TRANS ATLANTIC PARTNERS Project THE TALE at Sundance

30. November 2017 –
Press release: THE TALE, by TAP alumni Jennifer Fox (USA) and Sol Bondy (Germany), celebrates its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2018

The Sundance Film Festival announced that the US-German co-production, THE TALE, by TRANS ATLANTIC PARTNERS (TAP) alumni Jennifer Fox (USA) and Sol Bondy (Germany), celebrates its world premiere in the US competition at its upcoming edition. THE TALE received early support from TAP in 2013 as a co-production project between Fox’s NY based A Luminous Mind Production and Bondy’s Berlin-based One Two Films. The film was produced with Untitled Entertainment and Blackbird Films, and financed by Gamechanger Films, Artemis Rising Foundation, Fork Films, Weathervane Productions, and Lynda Weinman in the US; ZDF/ARTE and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg in Germany. International Sales are handled by Mongrel International.

TAP is an established international co-production and networking program for feature film and TV drama productions, annually bringing together experienced independent producers from Europe, USA, and Canada to develop TV and feature film projects. The program celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2018 and is presented by the Erich Pommer Institut (EPI), and most recently, the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA).

Based on Jennifer Fox's own story, THE TALE is an investigation into one woman's memory as she's forced to re-examine her first sexual relationship and the stories we tell ourselves in order to survive.

wrote the screenplay and directed the movie. Main cast are Oscar® nominated Laura Dern (WILD, JURASSIC PARK), Oscar® winner Ellen Burstyn (THE EXORCIST, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM) and Oscar® winner Common (WANTED, SELMA).

“TRANS ATLANTIC PARTNERS initiated this US-German co-production at a very early stage. It was amazing to be able to work on a project together with a partner from across from the Atlantic even during the program”, says Sol Bondy. “In fact this is the second co-production that emerged from TAP for us after ANGRY INDIAN GODDESSES in 2015!”

“There are so few ways that American producers can develop international co-production experience”, Jennifer Fox adds, ”the entire modular TAP program was completely inspiring! Not only did I partner with German Producer, Sol Bondy for my film “The Tale“, who helped to raise the very first financing that came in for our film, but I befriended a group of wonderful international producers that I remain in touch with and rely on for information and connections to this day.“

“THE TALE is a perfect example of TAP in action, developing and supporting translatlantic co-productions among the TAP producers Sol and Jennifer, and providing the best possible expertise and feedback from our trainers, experts and fellow producers. We are more than thrilled that this TAP project is launching at Sundance!”, said TAP director Jan Miller.

Nadja Radojevic, CEO and Director Training EPI “Congratulations to Jennifer Fox and Sol Bondy for this great success. This strengthens our goal to expand TAP as a unique transatlantic co-production and network.”

TAP is a one-of-a-kind combination of intensive training, effective networking among potential partners, and targeted project feedback from acclaimed industry experts. It provides extensive knowledge on international co-production and co-venturing from a European, Canadian and US perspective. TAP is supported by Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme of the European Union and Telefilm Canada.
