TRANS ATLANTIC PARTNERS 2016 producing results

 The first co-production collaborations resulting from its 2016 program at the Toronto International Film Festival

Trans Atlantic Partners 2016 (TAP) is very proud to announce two co-production projects resulting from its 2016 program. TAP 2016 producer, Maynard Kraak (West Five Films, South Africa), has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with former TAP participant and producer Sven Matten and Paradigma Entertainment (Germany) on the action adventure film LOST KRUGER GOLD. A co-production agreement is in the works. The two parties met during an exclusive 1-2-1 meeting event during Module 1 that matched local Munich producers, sales agents, and broadcasters with the TAP group.


Moreover, TAP 2016 producer Alexander Weimer (MovieBrats Pictures, Germany) is teaming up with TAP 2016 Expert and Alumni Phyllis Laing and Ken Zorniac from Canadian Tangent Animation, a subsidiary of Buffalo Gal Pictures, on its 3D animated desert adventure HUMP in co-production with Eric Goossens from Brussel-based animation studio Walking The Dog.

Numerous screenings of TAP 2016 producers’ and TAP alumni projects at the Toronto International Film Festival reflect the high-level of TAP producer participants and success of the unique co-production and networking training program. Alexander Weimer’s recent Russian-French-German co-production ZOOLOGY, that just won the Special Jury Prize at Karlovy Vary, will celebrate its North American premiere in the TIFF section Contemporary World Cinema. Also TAP project X QUINIENTOS from alumni Yanick Letourneau (Peripheria, Montreal), a Canadian-Colombian-Mexican co-production, is celebrating its world premiere in the same section. TAP alumni producers Mike MacMillan and Marc Almon will world premier their feature WEIRDOS as one of the Canadian galas in the section Special Presentations. In the Discovery section TAP alumni Sol Bondy (One Two Films) is presenting this year’s “Prix Un Certain Regard”-winner (Cannes) THE HAPPIEST DAY IN THE LIFE OF OLLI MÄKI (Finland/Germany/Sweden).  


For Module 2 (Halifax, Canada – September 12-18), the 25 TAP 2016 producers from Europe, Canada, the USA as well as India and South Africa will work further on their film and TV projects benefitting from the knowledge and expertise of acclaimed international Experts including:
